Draft ‘treatment’ My target audience and how I am attracting them- The song Cheery Bomb by The Runaways is the song I have chosen and I think this will appeal to my target audience, of a socially conscious 16-25 year old from the middle to upper market. This because it deals with issues they are politically and socially aware of, which are protested about in the song, including feminism, equal treatment and standards for the actions of men and women within society. My target audience also will include people who are fans of music from the 80s and 90s which hold powerful messages and statements, and they are aware of the influence The Runaways had on other music artists. The fact The Runaways released a song protesting the topic at the time, especially with a 16-year-old as the lead singer was difficult for the band as many men in that genre of the industry didn’t think they were good and looked down on them. My Final Statement of intent.
Statement of intent: I have chosen to use the song Cherry Bomb by The Runaways, a song which the band released in 1976 and still today is seen as one of the most empowering feminist songs to date. The song incorporates taboo subjects, such as promiscuity and the idea of a teenager standing up to her parents to suggest that they need to accept her for wow she is or do not accept her at all. I think this is very fitting for my music video, because a lot of young women may relate to it, this will attract the desired demographic of socially conscious 16-25-year olds from the middle to upper market. Why have I chosen- Cherry Bomb by The Runaways Released- 1976 Label- Mercury Written by- Joan Jett and Kim Fowley Produced by Kim Fowley This song is powerful song written and sung by The Runaways which was an all female band. The meaning behind the term 'Cherry Bomb' can be used for a woman who is promiscuous or causes trouble by not conforming to the expectations of her parents of society. I think this is an important protest message to the equal treatment and rights of women across the world and that's why I chose this song for my music video. As a young woman I felt it was important to chose a song which I not only like but feel as if I can connect to in some way, which mean I can relate to the song I have chosen. Key elements of the music video checklist: · I will aim to use a variety of shot types, to keep up with the fast tempo of the song. · I would like to use of lot low angle shots particularly of the protagonist, to capture their face with a perspective that makes them look more powerful and assertive. · I would like to include a Varity of locations from suburban to urban areas.
