Researching songs similar to the ones I want to create. Girls and Boys- Blur

The video for Girls and Boys- Blur incorporates the band performing the song in-front of a green screen. The Mise en scene includes a majority of young white people in a collage of different clips of them on holidays and are being portrayed as the stereotypical Brit on holiday ( loud and drunk). The use of bright colours and tones relates to the idea of the people being on holiday and all having a laidback lifestyle and having fun, which reflects the lyrics in the song "following the herd, down to Greece, on holiday". In addition, the fast pace of the video and the almost chaotic nature reflects the message in the video of love and sexuality being fluid instead of being linear and rigid. At the beginning, a light bulb is being switched on and off which could represent the start of an idea or the beginning of something new and turning on light bulb is often used to symbolise a new thought, the new thought could be related to the new way of looking at love and sexuality and the enlightenment of it. A lot of the shots are of people who are in their swimming costumes or are in the pool which hints to a certain level of promiscuity- this relates to the song Cherry Bomb which I am making my music video on.

The cinematography, includes loads of different shots of Damon albarn who is the leader singer of Blur. The majority of shots are low angle shots and high angle shots, there are not many mid angle or straight on shots for example. This could be portraying the drunk people in the video or it could be relating to the idea that love isn't always straight and therefore none of their shots in the video are. In addition a lot of the shots involving zooming in and out which adds to the chaotic nature and also makes it seem a bit childish in a way, as it makes it feel a bit like its being filmed by a child. The unprofessional nature of the video adds to the sense that when you are on holidays life isn't like normal and you sort of shut down from the fast paced life of living in Britain and instead relax and enjoy yourself. I think I could incorporate the idea of the filming being almost chaotic and messy into my video as it follows a young rebellious teenage girl.

The music/sound of the video is not similar to the song Cherry bomb as this song is relatively techno and Cherry Bomb is more rock yet I think both songs are similar in the way that they both include ideas of promiscuity and sex and are both aimed at a similar demographic in terms of age. In addition, this is an all boys band talking about the fluidity of sex and love and The Runaways are an all girls band talking about promiscuity and how it shouldn't need to be hidden.
